Quarterfinals are set

The Hong Kong Open 2023 quarterfinals are set.

In women's doubles, Danish pair Fruergaard/ Thygesen defeated third-seeded Japanese duo Matsuyama/ Shida 22-20 21-16.

In men's singles, Magnus Johannesen advanced to the quarterfinals by overcoming Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei with a score of 10-21, 21-19, 22-20. However, Christo Popov couldn't get past Japan's Kenta Nishimoto, losing 21-13, 14-21, 13-21.

Germany's Lamsfuss had a fantastic day, securing quarterfinal spots in both men's doubles with partner Seidel, and mixed doubles with Lohau.

Carolina Marin is looking to go all the way after beating Germany’s Yvonne Li. The Spaniard overcame her European counterpart 18-21, 21-14, 21-11. 

Unfortunately, our Scottish representatives, Gilmour and Dunn/ Hall, were eliminated from the Hong Kong Open. The men’s doubles pair after falling short to reigning world silver medallists Astrup/ Rasmussen. 

Finally, France’s Gicquel/ Delrue overcame Mairs/ Mairs of England 21-15 21-19.
