Semifinals took place in the morning session and the finals are now about to kick off.

We’ll soon know who will be the ORLEN Polish Open 2023 champions but first, there’s an afternoon with amazing matches ahead. The finals start at 02.00pm (CEST) and you can watch them on badmintoneurope.tv.

Perhaps one of the most exciting matches of the deciding stages, Frenchman Alex Lanier faced Dane Magnus Johannesen in what was the longest match of the semifinals. They had last faced each other not long ago in another semifinal of the European Circuit, at the Estonian International.

While last time Johannesen lost in straight games, the Dane got off to a great start winning the first game. Lanier bounced back to win the second game and push a decider and despite it being really close between the two in the final game, the French player managed to win the thriller.

The Polish Open has been a great tournament for Finland’s Kalle Koljonen who has won against Belgium’s Julien Carraggi. “This is my first time in a final at Challenge level. I’ve been in so many semifinals but lost so I’m happy to finally get to the finals,” said Koljonen after his win. “I just do my things, trust the game and it will come in the end if I just keep going.”
