Big wins and tough losses always go hand in hand sports and especially at major events like the YONEX All England. Day two in Birmingham was an amazing experience for some of our European players and a tough one to swallow for others.  

"That win would have meant so much to us. That would have been the biggest win of our careers, and now it's the biggest loss of our careers", stated a devastated Gregory Mairs after a dramatic first-round-loss in mixed doubles together with Jenny Moore. 

The English showed an incredible performance against Kim Won Ho/Jeong Na Eun (Korea), last week's runner-ups at the German Open. After winning the first game 21-15 and losing the second one 9-21, Mairs and Moore started a huge run to open the decider. But after leading 14-5 and 16-8, they completely lost control of the match. "It started to slip away from us. When that deficit gets back you start really getting nervous and really thinking, like, we could lose this now", described Moore.

In the end, the Koreans pulled off a huge comeback to win the match 21-19. "We feel so disappointed that we haven't won on that stage and have the chance to play another match in that great arena", said Mairs.

Big win for Bay and Mølhede 

For this Danish duo, day two of the All England turned out great. Jeppe Bay and Lasse Mølhede showed another great performance after taking out the European Champions Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel last week at the German Open. 

Today they got their revenge against Akira Koga/Taichi Saito from Japan after losing to them in the second round of the German Open last week. 

"I don't think we have played that long before. It was really intense and there was a lot of rallies, so we are just really happy and proud that we came out as the winners", said Lasse Mølhede after the 75-minute-match.

The Danes won 18-21, 23-21, 24-22 and will face Leo Rolly Carnando/ Daniel Marthin from Indonesia in the Round of 16 tomorrow. "We haven't played them before, so we are really excited about tomorrow. We will get some rest and give it all on court", said Mølhede.
