German players lose all four of their matches at the home tournament and exit the YONEX German Open 2023 prior to the quarterfinals. But several other European badminton stars will be fighting for the semifinals tomorrow.

The round of 16 in Mülheim an der Ruhr was packed with world class badminton and exciting matches. But for the German athletes it was a day to forget. Lamsfuss/Lohau, Yvonne Li, Kuespert/Moszczynski, and Lamsfuss/Seidel all lost their second round on home soil.

Especially the defeat of the European men's doubles champions Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel was a surprise. They fell short to Jeppe Bay and Lasse Mølhede (DEN) who had not competed on international stage since the French Open last November.

"We had been out for a couple of months with Jeppe's injury so it's really nice to be back on court today. We are really happy to beat the European champions", stated Lasse Mølhede after winning 21-17, 21-15.

More Europeans to play in the quarterfinals tomorrow: Astrup/Rasmussen (Denmark), Stoeva/Stoeva (Bulgaria), and Gicquel/Delrue (France).

Matches start on Thursday 3:00pm CET and will be streamed on the BWF Youtube channel.
