The 2023 European Mixed Team Championships are about to start on Tuesday and today we can already have a look at the nominated players. The reigning champions Denmark will be lead by their superstar Viktor Axelsen but also miss some key players in their campaign to win the EMTC title for the fifth time in a row.

The Danish federation announced that Alexandra Bøje, Mia Blichfeldt, Rasmus Gemke, and Lasse Mølhede will all not be able to play due to injury. On top of that, Anders Skaarup Rasmussen will not be part of the team due to personal reasons. Denmark will take on Ukraine on Tuesday morning 10.00 CET.

With the favourites a little weakened by these absences, hopes are rising among the competition to have a shot at the gold medal after Denmark winning four straight titles 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021.

France, with stars like Thom Gicquel, Delphine Delrue, and the Popov brothers nominated, and Germany, featuring the European Champions in men's an mixed doubles, are probably the strongest contenders to challenge Denmark but also the five other teams will do their utmost to pull off a surprise.
