Badminton Europe Confederation (BEC) would like to wish the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation a happy 60th anniversary.

The establishment of badminton in Azerbaijan goes back to 1962 when the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation was found. The first Baku championship was organized in the same year and the first Azerbaijan national championship was held a year after in 1963.

A number of events dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation were held in November-December 2022. These events addressed topics such as gender equality, female empowerment, and honoring players and coaches who have shaped the development of badminton in Azerbaijan.

The Social media pages of ABF and local TV channels largely covered these events that served to develop badminton and grow the sport in the country. The federation revealed a new logo and promotion video dedicated to 60th anniversary of Azerbaijan Badminton Federation.

“Badminton Azerbaijan is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. It has been a joyful journey cultivating generations of professional badminton players in Azerbaijan. Those who started this journey as young players are now grandparents and experienced trainers, passing the joy of this sport to the next generations. We celebrate this anniversary together with badminton players from Europe and around the world. Let this sport continue to bring a healthy lifestyle and happiness to every home for many years to come!”, wrote Taleh Ziyadov, President of Azerbaijan Badminton Federation.

Azerbaijan will continue to host important international badminton events. The 2023 BEC Congress will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan on the 21 & 22 April.
