The 2022 edition of the Bulgarian International Championship kicks off tomorrow.

From Thursday 6 until Sunday 9 October, the Bulgarian International Championship will be taking place once again. Held since 2012, the Future Series tournament has previously had European stars such as Mathias Boe, Toma Junior Popov, and national heroes Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva claiming titles in Sofia.

This year, plenty of European talents will meet for what will be the new edition of the Bulgarian International Championship. The reigning European Junior champion, Kaloyana Nalbantova, won a bronze medal last year and will be competing again this time. She will also be playing the women’s doubles event, partnering with Polina Buhrova, Ukraine.

Buhrova, top seeded, could also be a candidate for the 2022 title. Austria’s Katrin Neudolt, France’s Emilie Drouin, and Bulgaria’s Gergana Pavlova, are some of the other seeded players that will be competing from Friday on.

Dimitar Yanakiev, top seeded in the men’s singles, is another player from the host country who could take the chance to achieve a great result on home soil, as well as Ilyan Stoynov.

In men’s doubles, there’s a pair from Chinese Taipei to watch out for. Top seeds Chiu Hsiang Chieh/ Yang Ming-Tse have claimed two titles in the last two weeks — at the VICTOR Croatian International and the ORLEN Polish International. They will be tough opposition for the other contenders.

Matches will be livestreamed here.
