Another edition of the YONEX Belgian International 2022 has come to an end, with Japan and Chinese Taipei winning two gold medals each, and Mirodikawa/ Saito (JPN) keeping the champion title in mixed doubles.

This year’s YONEX Belgian International had only one European player in the finals. Kim Bruun, Denmark, took on the challenge against fifth seeded Lin Chun-Yi, Chinese Taipei — a country that was competing in four out of the five events’ finals.

Lin, whose last big result on European soil was in 2019 finishing as the runner-up of the Finnish Open, won the match against two-times Belgian International bronze medallist Bruun, 21-14 21-13.

Chinese Taipei won another gold in the men’s doubles in what was a great closing match to the tournament. Chang Ko-Chi/ Po Li-Wei were in the only three-game match of the final day against fellow finalists Sirawit Sothon/ Natthapat Trinkajee, Thailand.

As for Japan, the country won two golds. The first match of finals day was a battle for the mixed doubles gold between Hiroki Midorikawa/ Natsu Saito, Japan, and Chiu Hsiang Chieh/ Lin Xiao Min, Chinese Taipei. The Japanese duo, who were the reigning champions, will be keeping their title as they won once again, with a result of 21-13 21-17.

Japan’s other gold was in the women’s doubles event, with Rui Hirokami/ Yuna Kato winning against Chang Ching Hui/ Yang Ching Tun 21-7 21-15. In women’s singles, Vietnam’s Thuy Linh Nguyen, fifth seeded, became the YONEX Belgian International 2022 champion with a win against opponent Hirari Mizui, Japan, 21-19 21-16.

The next stop in the European Circuit is in Poland for the ORLEN Polish International 2022, taking place 21 to 25 September. You’ll be able to follow the matches live on www.badmintoneurope.tv.
