Today, 5 July 2022, is first-ever World Badminton Day. Join Badminton Europe in celebrating the sport we love!

On 5 July 1934, the International Badminton Federation (now BWF) was founded. 88 years later, badminton communities from all around the world will come together to celebrate our sport in what will be the first-ever #WorldBadmintonDay, on 5 July 2022.

No matter if playing alone or with friends, inside in a hall or outside in a park, badminton is a sport for everyone that can be enjoyed however and wherever you are. This is a day to celebrate a sport that unites us — communities, the different National Federations all around Europe, and all fans of the sport in Europe and in the whole world.

There will be events organised internationally to celebrate the World Badminton Day and Badminton Europe would like for all fans around the continent to join us in this special day by sharing photographs or videos. On Social Media platforms, you can share your celebrations with the hashtag #WorldBadmintonDay, tagging or mentioning us. You can also send us your celebration on social@badmintoneurope.com.

It can be a video of people getting together to play and celebrate the day, a photo of you posing with the #WorldBadmintonDay, you can get as creative as you want! We will be re-sharing them on our platforms.

Let’s have a great day to celebrate our sport! #WorldBadmintonDay
