The third meeting for the ADVANCE project took place last month in Leeds, where the next phases were discussed. Applications are now open to take part in the ADVANCE coach education.

The International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) hosted the third meeting between the partners of the ADVANCE project. The meeting was held on 9 March 2022 in the picturesque and historical surroundings of Leeds Beckett University, where the ICCE has its office. The next steps and the progress of the ADVANCE project were the main points on the agenda.

A fruitful discussion
The project is progressing well; the Training Needs Analysis is nearly finished and the ADVANCE European Badminton Coaching framework is in the making. A great progress of the framework has been made by Sergio Lara-Bercial (ICCE), who addressed the competences and functions of coaches in his presentation.

The curriculum distribution and course development are being developed and will be finished for the first physical coaching course being held 14-18 September 2022 at Badminton Europe’s Centre of Excellence in Holbæk, Denmark.

- It was great to meet the partners again and have fruitful discussions on the development of the project. The partners are very committed to the project and provide with their different expertise a lot of valuable input to the project, Development & High Performance Senior Manager Jacob Oehlenschlæger said.

Online platform to enrich the educational experience
The ADVANCE project will develop an online platform that will allow participants and tutors not only to exchange all the content and tasks shared during this blended education programme, but also to interact with each other and follow up on their progress.

Such tool will be available for the final pool of candidates before starting the course. The creation of a simple and easy platform that will offer educational content in an interactive setting will enrich the programme.

Interested? The application is now open!
While the development of the new holistic ADVANCE European Badminton Coaching Framework is in its final stage, the project consortium is actively seeking the best candidates to test the final outcome. The invitation to participate in this 10-month course has just opened.

Due to the support of the EU Erasmus+ programme it is possible to deliver the education programme for free. However, the participants must cover their own food, accommodation, and travel expenses.

- I’m really pleased that we have just opened the application for candidates for the ADVANCE European Badminton Coaching Education. I can’t wait to receive plenty of applications from many qualified candidates, who have the ambition to make a difference for European badminton, Oehlenschlæger stated.
