In the upcoming week the Coach Education Level 1 and Tutor Level 1 courses will take place in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.

All over Europe badminton is returning, and next week nine coaches and seven tutors will be travelling to Portugal to get new input for their coaching career.

The Portuguese Badminton Federation is hosting the Coach Education Level 1 and Tutor Level 1 courses in the city of Caldas da Rainha, and the President, Horácio Bento de Gouveia, is pleased to welcome a group of people, who are eager to learn more about the sport of badminton.

- We are pleased to organize the courses. We will do our best in order to achieve the success they deserve. Fortunately, there were not many COVID19 infections in the city of Caldas da Rainha, and the situation has always been under control, the President stated.

- So far, there were no particular challenges to be reported, he added.

Dutch expert

Dutch Martijn van Dooremalen will be acting as the expert of the court, and he is looking forward to give the participants valuable input, which they can bring home to their players and fellow coaches.

- The Course Level 1 is an excellent opportunity for a start to improve knowledge on badminton and how to use this while practicing with badminton players, Martijn van Dooremalen said.

- I expect highly motivated participants, due to the fact that they are travelling to Portugal with still a lot of restrictions on travel and stay. The mix in backgrounds of the participants will secure a high standard of the course.

From nine different countries
The participants will be travelling to Portugal from nine different European countries, and Badminton Europe (BEC) Development & High Performance Officer, Mari Carmen Casermeiro, will be the BEC representative on site for the entire course.

- I am so glad that these courses can be finally organised.

- COVID-19 is still a challenge when it comes to travel restrictions, but I would like to thank the Portuguese Badminton Federation for their proactivity and I am sure that the participants will be leaving Portugal with the tools they need to become better coaches, Casermeiro mentioned.

The Coach Education Level 1 and Tutor Level 1 will be taking place from 12-16 and from 17 to 19 September consecutively.
