Badminton Europe congratulates Spyros Capralos on his election as the new EOC President.

On 10 June 2021 the Members of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) elected Spyros Capralos, Greece, as the new President.

Since June 2020 the EOC has been without a President following the passing of former President Janez Kocijančič, and at today’s meeting in Athens, Greece, the Members elected Capralos as EOC President of the period 2021-2025.

The two-times Olympian and President for the Hellenic Olympic Committee won the election against acting President, Niels Nygaard, Denmark with 34 votes to 16.

Looking forward to working with the new President
Badminton Europe President, Peter Tarcala followed the election from his home in Slovakia, and he is looking forward to working together with the new EOC President and his team.

- Congratulations to Mr. Capralos. Badminton Europe is looking forward to continuing the strong cooperation we have with EOC, and with Spyros Capralos as the President, EOC is moving into the future with a strong leadership.

On national level, the new EOC President has a strong connection to the Hellenic Badminton Federation.

- The election of Mr. Capralos will only be positive for the sport of badminton. He knows our sport, and he knows that Badminton Europe always will be a strong support of EOC and the EOC activities, Tarcala stated.
