Badminton Europe has worked on creating a new and fresh Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with each Member Association. Countries such as Albania, Georgia and North Macedonia join the list, stating the agreement sets them on a path their federations must follow to continue to grow.

An MoU is a legally non-binding agreement that outlines details of a mutual understanding which highlights each side’s requirements and responsibilities. Read more about the MoU initiative here.

Upon signing the MoU, the Badminton Federation of Albania explain the value of this move.

-The memorandum between our federation and Badminton Europe (BEC) was an important achievement for us. As a new and inexperienced federation, this cooperation is the direction of the path that we must follow to have good results from our work.

Working together
The document aims to help in organising the work of the federation and increase cooperation, to ultimately increase the growth of the sport in the country. Discussing their expectations, Tinatin Baghashvili, President of the Georgian National Badminton Federation explains some of the things they are looking forward to.

-We have high hopes for your support, in particular in administration, training of coaches and referees, as well as the launch of promising players in the Olympic reserve camps. We look forward to some exciting Regional Projects, where we will gain insights through joint training with the experienced Ukrainian and Armenian badminton teams.

Each Member is different
Perhaps the main benefit of the MoU initiative is that each agreement is tailored to the specific needs of the Member. Every Member will have their concerns, initiatives, strengths, weaknesses and restrictions, so appreciating this is a key to the success of the MoU. This is echoed by Igor Minoski, General Secretary of the Macedonian Badminton Federation.

-We welcome this initiative with the MoU activity of BEC, and we will make every effort within our capabilities to be in every part of this project. Our expectations regarding the MoU is that with the realisation of the above we expect that we will visibly increase the number of clubs and members of those clubs, but of course, we will need help in our specific areas.
