We know the groups for Finland

After the live draw, we learnt who is playing who in the groups for next month’s 2021 European Mixed Team Championships in Vantaa, Finland.
 
The finals to crown Europe’s best team will take place 16 to 20 February 2021. The live draw deciding how the eight teams will be divided into the two groups took place today at the Badminton Europe offices in Denmark and here are the results. 

Denmark as reigning champions and number one seeds automatically was placed in Group 1. England as second seeds was placed in Group 2.

The six remaining teams were drawn randomly into the two groups.

Denmark
Scotland
Germany
Finland 

Group 2
England
France
Netherlands
Russia

Hosts to play champions
Hosts Finland has been drawn into Group 1 with reigning champions Denmark. The Nordic country, who’s only team medal came at the 2014 European Men’s Team Championships will have their work cut out against the 17-time champions. 

Scotland, who are the only non-seeded team to qualify after defeating Spain 3-2 on the final day for the Group 6 qualification in Portugal, also fall into this group. They are joined by the silver medallists from last year and champions in 2013, Germany. 

Group 2, too tough to call. 
England is seeded second and has a point to prove after last time missing the podium for the first time since 2004. France, who is a fast emerging team seeks its first medal at the competition. 

Completing the group are the two bronze medallists from 2019, the Netherlands and Russia, who are on a run of six straight podiums. 

All eyes on Finland
Hosts Finland has had great preparation following the 2020 European Junior Championships in Lahti. The EMTC group matches will be played over three days. The two top team advances to the semifinals. Now that we know the groups, the excitement builds!
