A Coach Education Level 2 Course in Milan, Italy is currently taking place, with aspiring coaches from twelve European nations signing up to attend.

Under the appropriate precautions, Badminton Europe is pleased that the Coach Education Course is able to take place, as it is an area of particular importance to our sport. To give a flavour of what a typical day looks like at such a course, yesterday’s morning session included looking at physical training and testing, followed by technical hitting. After Lunch, the participants worked on group coaching, which included a section on debriefing. Then to end the day, the course looked at physical fitness training.

One of the Experts delivering the course is Arturo Ruiz, a former Spanish international. He shares the areas they are focusing on for this course.

-We are doing an individual pathway for 56 high performance coaches. We have implemented the BWF/BEC system with the Italian national system. These coaches are also cooperating with the national team in order to get experience from this. International exchanges and experiences are very important for the development of new coaches.

They want to improve their skills
Wojciech Szkudlarczyk, former Polish international and seventeen-time title winner on the European circuit in men’s and mixed doubles, is another Expert on the course. He is delighted that after a lengthy break, we can get back on track with the coach development program in Europe.

-It is nice that on the course in Milan we have a big group of participants from around Europe. Personally, I'm also happy that there are four coaches from Poland who are working in clubs and the national team of Poland and want to improve their skills.

The course will continue until Sunday 11 October, but already there is a lot of positivity felt in Milan as Szkudlarczyk adds.

-After three days of the course we have had some good conversations and also positive feedback from participants about course. We can see also that they improve day by day and share knowledge with each other.
