In this article, we get to know Kristin Kuuba, Estonia’s best women’s singles player at the moment, a little better as she answers questions about how she started playing badminton, who her doubles partner would be if she could choose whoever she wants and her all-time favourite player.

How did you start playing badminton?

- I started playing badminton when I was seven years old. My first coach introduced badminton as a sport in my class and I decided to go and give it a try.

What do you do in your spare time when you are not in the badminton hall or at the gym?

- When I’m not in the badminton hall or gym, then there’s a big chance that I’m sleeping, cooking or eating. I also like to spend my spare time with my family and friends.

What is your best badminton memory and why?

- My best badminton memory is winning the first-ever medal for Estonian badminton at the Europeans Junior Championship 2015 in women’s doubles. This is the first competition which comes to my mind when someone asks.

If you could choose one player to play doubles with, who would it be? And why?

- I would like to play doubles with one of the Stoeva sisters. It just seems interesting to see and feel on the court how strong their smash and defence are.

When you are at tournaments, what do you like to do when you are not playing matches or warming up?

- At the tournaments I like to go sightseeing and also shopping. There’s usually a lot of shops which we don’t have in Estonia.

Who is your favourite player of all time? And why?

- My all-time favourite player... I don’t have any favourite. But I like to watch Carolina Marin and Mia Blichfeldt matches. I think their playing styles are interesting to watch.

If you weren’t playing badminton, what would you be doing then?

- If I wasn’t playing badminton then I think it’s just some other kind of sport. I really like to be active
