Anne Tran: I found my motivation again

The French doubles player, Anne Tran, 24, is like everyone else affected by the Covid-19. But the break from tournaments is not only a bad thing. It gives time to recover and find the motivation.

For those who follow Anne Tran on Instagram, you might have seen the picture of her with a mask in a hospital. The text is written in French, so for those who do not speak French, Tran explained what has happened.

- I had to do an elbow surgery normally scheduled right after the Europeans. It was to remove from my elbow an synovial chondromatosis that bothered me in my arm mouvement. I think I will be back to practice in one month or two.

Looking at the last 12 months for the French doubles player, how have they been?

- I think the past 12 month have not been easy. Even with our bronze medal at the European Games and others in the Europeans circuit, we were not satisfied with our level with both of my partners. And when we were on the good track to find our best game, Emilie got unfortunately injured. It was hard for her and me. But since that, I took time to step back a bit and found my motivation again.

The future of the women’s doubles

Tran’s women’s doubles partner, Emilie Lefel, retired back in late 2019. Since then Tran has not really played the women’s doubles. But what is the current situation for her and women’s doubles now?

- To be honest, I have no idea for now. I focused myself since November only on mixed doubles but I would like to play women’s double again in the near future.

- We have not had any talk about new partners yet. I think with the period it is quite difficult to plan anything.

Eventhough Tran is not playing the women’s doubles for now, the goal remains the same.

- My personal goal in women’s doubles is the same in mixed doubles, it would be to have a medal at Olympics.
