The afternoon session on day two of the European Men’s and Women’s Team Championships features a number of big names in some exciting matchups.

Namely the reigning Olympic champion Carolina Marin, who hopes to lead Spain to a better result against Norway, after a 4-1 loss to Sweden yesterday. Marin gave her country quick 1-0 lead today after defeating Emilie Hamang 21-13, 21-13. Following her win, Marin stated.

-I think it was an easy match. I am here to support my Spanish team and to play my best for my country. I am happy to be here with all the girls, supporting them and giving advice, which is really important.

After her return for injury, Marin has only been getting better and climbing the rankings fast. Marin speaks about her next big goals she is working towards.

-First one will be the All England for sure. I am playing here to keep my game going. Next week I have the Barcelona Masters. It is really nice to play in Spain because I will meet my family over there. Many top players are going there, so it is really great for Spain to have a tournament like this. The second main goal, of course, will be the Olympic Games.
