The Swedish Open begins tomorrow, and Julie Dawall Jakobsen from Denmark is ready and confident before the event.

Jakobsen tops the women’s singles draw with strong contenders, including third seed Natalia Perminova from Russia and fifth seed Clara Azurmendi from Spain. Describing her current state of mind upon arriving in Uppsala, Sweden, she says.

- I feel great after some good tournaments at the end of 2019. It gave me confidence and I have a positive feeling about my game at the time. It was nice to have a short Christmas break after a lot of tournaments and team matches in November and December. Now I feel good and the body has rested so I feel ready to start 2020. Hopefully, I can bring the good things from the last tournaments and keep up the form.

I have to be more than ready
At the same time, she knows that the path to the Swedish Open title will have tough challenges along the way.

- This year there are a lot of good players, especially some Asian players, so I think I’ll take one match at a time. I have a bit of a tough draw. Ashwati Pillai from Sweden, who is an excellent young player and if I win the first match, it’s Natsuki Oie, from Japan, who I lost to in Canada in June. I have to be more than ready from the beginning, but also think I have good chances if I play well, she added.
