There is no reason not to play badminton in the local school.

In 2012 BWF launched Shuttle Time - A school’s badminton programme supporting the principle, that children should lead a healthy and active life, both in and out of school.

Shuttle Time offers school teachers access to free resources, training and equipment, which support the teaching of enjoyable, safe and inclusive badminton activities to children aged 5-15 years old. Shuttle Time lessons are designed to provide children with a positive image of badminton through many opportunities to have fun, engage with others and experience success.

It is fantastic

Badminton Europe organises Shuttle Time Trainer’s and Tutor’s courses around Europe. These courses are taught by a Shuttle Time expert from BWF/BEC. The Certified BWF/BEC Shuttle Time Trainers can deliver tutor´s and teacher´s courses in their countries.

Brian Agerbak, the General Secretary of Badminton Europe, is happy about how the Shuttle Time programme help introducing the sport to both teachers and kids.

- It is fantastic. I am very pleased that we are introducing, not only the teachers, but also a lot of kids to our sport. Badminton has a broad appeal, and it is easy to start playing.

- With the Shuttle Time education we give both teachers and students the best possible introduction to our sport.

KPI is reached
The KPI for Badminton Europe is to have educated 20,000 teachers by 2020 – a goal that has now been reached.

- It tells me that we have been working well in this area. As an organization we can only be happy, and I am sure that we will see even more teachers taking part in the education program moving forward, Agerbak said.

Shuttle Time is currently being implemented in 135 countries in partnership with BWF’s Continental Confederations and Member Associations.
