Who finished 2019 on top?

2019 is almost over, and it is time to see who topped the European Junior Circuit rankings


Mads Juel Møller from Denmark tops the men’s singles after winning the Turkey Junior Open right before Christmas. Before winning this tournament, he shared the ranking as number four with Germany’s Matthias Kicklitz. In the last month, he has managed to win two tournaments, the Turkey Junior Open and the Portuguese International Junior Championships. 


In the women’s singles we have Russia’s Anastasiia Shapovalova. In the past six months, she has had two tournament wins, the Russian Junior White Nights and Finnish Junior Open, as well as a second place in the Bulgarian Junior International Championships


The doubles

The top 10 in men’s double is mainly players from England and Russia. So, on top of the men’s doubles ranking we have William Jones from England. In the last six tournaments, Jones has managed to win five of them and in the last one he claimed a silver medal.  


Italy’s Chiara Passeri tops the women’s doubles category. In 2019 she had one tournament win at the Portuguese International Junior Championships as well as two silver medals in the Slovenia Junior International and Alpes International respectively. 


In the mixed doubles another English player tops the ranking, Brandon Zhi Hao Yap. England has six out of the top 10 players, but with three tournament wins, two silver medals and a quarterfinal in the last six tournaments, Zhi Hao Yap ends 2019 on top.
