Listen to the latest episode of the BEC Podcast where we chat with Centre of Excellence coach, Kęstutis Navickas.

Navickas, a former Lithuanian international player, competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and won the bronze medal at the 2015 Baku European Games, so brings plenty of high-level experience to the centre.

Post retirement he has become a coach at our Centre of Excellence in Holbæk, Denmark. The centre has an initiative to secure an on-going development and further improvement of High Performance level in Europe. Speaking about the centre in the podcast, Navickas said.

- We are developing and educating the players all the time. Guiding them on what to eat, how to prepare for practise and tournaments. The players coming in are adjusting to our rules and discipline.

The players are now regularly getting positive results in tournaments. When being asked if this is a surprise, Navickas responded.

- No, I am not surprised. I am getting used to coming in on Monday morning for a group chat with the players and speaking about their tournament successes. A lot of players from different continents are wanting to come to train with us now, which is great for everyone. The centre is booming.

On the podcast, Navickas also discusses the structure of training, his emotions around retirement, his style of coaching, other coaches at the centre and training camps.
