The back-to-back European champions clinched a spot in the French Open semifinals.

Chris Adcock after the first round win at French Open: “It is fair to say that is has been more down than up lately”.

Right now it is for sure more up than down for the 2017 and 2018 European champions. Friday evening, they secured a spot in the semifinals of French Open.

Takuro Hoki/Wakana Nagahara, Japan, had already beaten two European pairs (Seidel/Efler and Lamsfuss/Herttrich) on their way to the quarterfinals, but the third time the Europeans managed to beat the Japanese.

Finally a European win
Chris and Gabby Adcock won a thrilling quarterfinal 21-18 17-21 21-15 and is ready to face Praveen Jordan/Melita Oktavianti, Indonesia, in the semifinals.

- It was not our best performance, but sometimes the awful wins are the best wins, Chris Adcock said.

- We enjoy being on court and even if we hit the frames all the time we smile, and that makes a difference, Gabby Adcocks added.

It is the first time in 2019 that the Adcocks reach a World Tour Super 750 semifinal.
