BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships 2019 has come to an end.

Last week the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships 2019 took place in Kazan, Russia. 43 countries participated from all around the world, everyone having the same goal - to bring home the gold.

Denmark, Russia and England were all seeded [5/8], making them the highest seeded European countries.

Indonesia on top

Indonesia was facing Thailand in the semifinal, while China was up against Japan in the other semifinal. Both Indonesia and China won close 3-2 encounters against their opponents to set up an exciting final between the two great Asian badminton powerhouses.

Indonesia, who was seeded one going into the event, ended up taking the gold after winning 3-1 and thereby secured their first ever World Junior team title.

All the matches in the final were in three games and all very close, making the final a real thriller.

The European countries

There were no medals for the European countries this year at the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships, however two of them, France and Denmark, made it to the quarterfinal stage before bowing out.

Denmark finished as number six after losing 1-3 to Hong Kong China and France finished as number eight when losing 2-3 against Korea. That made Denmark and France the two highest ranked European countries.

This week the individual BWF World Junior Championships 2019 begins.
