Respected leader joins Badminton Europe

Jacob Oehlenschlæger is the new Senior Manager at Badminton Europe.

The former national coach of Germany joins Badminton Europe as the new Senior Manager for High Performance and Development.

Oehlenschlæger will be responsible for the overall management of the Development and High Performance areas within Badminton Europe, including oversight of the BEC Centre of Excellence and BEC Development Programmes.

- With Jacob we get a person with a good European badminton network. He is experienced in high performance and in educating coaches, and I am sure he will be a good sparring partner for the training environment at Centre of Excellence, General Secretary at Badminton Europe, Brian Agerbak said.

Working with Member Associations
One of the main topics for the new Senior Manager will be the cooperation between Badminton Europe and it’s Member Associations.

At the World Championships in Basel, Switzerland, the top Member Associations of Badminton Europe agreed to focus more on how the European top players can develop, and Oehlenschlæger will have a vital role to play in this work moving forward.

- Jacob will be working on the formalization of the development activities inthe Member Associations. He will be the man in charge of the new project, where the Member Association with players on the absolute top level will be working together to help the best European players to reach top class level, the General Secretary mentioned.

Do better tomorrow
The former German national coach is looking to join the BEC Office.

- I am looking very much forward to begin my work at Badminton Europe. I have been working in all the areas in this position and I am looking forward to work with a lot of people who want to the best for the sport, Oehlenschlæger said.

- Development is a key to me. I want to move the European level of badminton. I have a big ‘badminton heart’ and for me it is a key that we are doing better tomorrow than we did today, he added.

Jacob Oehlenschlæger will have his first day at the BEC is on November 1st 2019.
