After just a few days break, the next International Challenge is on as the 2019 YONEX Belgian International is played this week.

Back to back International Challenge wins?
With last week’s event in Ukraine, at the Kharkiv International, fresh in memory a number of players have come straight across to the East of Brussels to take part in this event in Leuven this week.

After their success in Kharkiv, the English pair of Ben Lane and Sean Vendy will be desperate to continue their impressive form in Belgium. Lane and Vendy came out the better in an all English final against recognised stars and Olympic bronze medallists Chris Langridge and Marcus Ellis after a 21-19, 21-18 win and the younger of the English pairs will now be eager for another title.

The English pair have been seeded once again for this event, but this time as 2
nd compared to 3rd that they were in Kharkiv. So they’ll be confident of going all the way once again in this one.

Another player looking to go back to back in Leuven is Netherlands’ Mark Cauljow.

The Dutchman was in fine form in Kharkiv, winning, taking his second title of the year in an impressive 21-15, 21-10 win over Ade Resky Dwichayo (Azerbaijan).

Cauljow dropped just one game in the entire tournament in Ukraine and is the top seed once again. So he’ll be expecting to continue that form this week.

Home winner?
One to watch this week will no doubt be Belgium’s Lianne Tan in the women’s singles.

The world number 50 will be looking to be the first Belgian winner in this competition since the men's doubles pair of Wouter Class and Frédéric Mawet all the way back in 2001.

Tan looks to be the country’s best hope of breaking that 18-year duct after being seeded 3
rd for the event and the only Belgian player across all disciplines that has been seeded at all in the tournament.

With this being her home tournament and being so highly seeded there is bound to be some pressure on the Bilzen born player so it will be interesting to see how well she can manage that throughout the coming days.
