Champions have been crowned and courts have been taken down. It is time for the evaluation of the 2019 European U17 Championships.

For almost two weeks Gniezno, Poland, hosted the championships where future European badminton stars attended, and “new” nations became the proof that badminton is a sport that is growing in Europe.

- The team event brought out the importance of team spirit and Serbia showcased perfectly how with some very good level players and team support it is possible for each country to win against nations, which have  long badminton traditions, Chair of Badminton Europe's Major Events Commission, Renna Unt said.

Denmark and Russia dominated
At the individual event Russia and Denmark dominated winning the five titles:

Russia won women’s singles and women’s doubles, while Denmark won men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles.

- The individual event finals were all interesting and good quality matches that offered a lot of excitement, Unt stated.

Hope to see Poland host again
The Chair of Major Events Commission at Badminton Europe would like to thank the Polish organizers for hosting the event.

- Badminton Europe is thankful that Polish Badminton Federation organised this event and hopefully it gave them good motivation to host major championships also in the future as they have done many times in recent years, she mentioned.

The next European Championships to take place is the 2020 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships. France will host the event in February 2020. Read more about it here
