France and Spain met in the third round of the group stage at the 2019 European U17 Team Championships.

France, who is seeded 5/8 in the team event, got the perfect start in the tie winning the mixed doubles and the men’s singles, before Spain got a point on the scoreboard winning the women’s singles.

- It was a very good match for me and my partner. We played at a good level, and it was a match with a lot of pressure. It was a good first point for the team, Nicolas Hoareau said.

Two wins for France
France secured the victory winning the men’s doubles in match number four taking the lead 3-1 and ‘Les Bleus’ took the third win out of three in the European U17 Team Championships winning 3-2 against Spain.

- We did not play our best badminton in the beginning of the competition, but the team is good. We have a good relationship and that is important for competitions like this, team captain Hoareau said.

- The former generations are role models for us, and we will try to make the same results as they did in the past. We are ready to win this time, he added.
