The 2019 European U17 Championships in Poland is just around the corner. With a record number of entries, the tournament that throws-up so many future stars will be watched very closely. The individual events start this coming Tuesday.

The nation catching the eye in recent years is Turkey. With individual gold and bronze medals in 2017 culminating in a silver for the team event, Turkish badminton is on the rise. Women’s doubles pair Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlican Inci after winning the U17 title, then went on to win the European Junior Championship last year in Tallinn. So now the batten is passed to the new generation, namely Yasemen Bektas and Cansu Ercetin, who are number one seeds in the women’s doubles aiming to follow the same path.
