The World Championships campaign came to an end for Selena Piek and Robin Tabeling.

It is less than a year ago Selena Piek and Robin Tabeling walked on court together for the first time. They have done better than expected at the World Championships in Basel beating two seeded pairs, but on Friday the curtain went down for the Dutch.

Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai from Thailand, who are seeded four at the championships, won in straight games 21-11 21-7.

- In every aspect of the game they were three steps ahead of us. We could never control the match. They were very dominant and we did not have a chance today, Selena Piek said.

A lot to work on
Beating the 6th and 13th seeds on their way to the quarterfinals the Dutch proved that the potential is huge, but they are also aware that they still have a lot to learn if they should be able to make it even further at the big championships.

- Even though my attack makes me dangerous sometimes, they controlled the shots. They got the speed they wanted, and we need to find better solutions to take out the speed and put it in our favour, Robin Tabeling said.

- We need to make combinations and setups to execute the points instead of just playing, he added.
