After some tough months, Anne Tran and Ronan Labar came back on the winning track.

In May, Anne Tran and Ronan Labar won the Denmark Challenge, but since that victory it has been quiet around the French mixed doubles pairing. At the two North American BWF World Tour tournaments the French bowed out before the quarterfinals, which is clearly not satisfying for a pair that has bigger ambitions.

- Our level was not good during our Canada/USA tour, and we lost some confidence, Ronan Labar said.

- We keep believing in our chance of qualifying for the Olympics, if we manage to play at the level, which we know we can. But it is a long way.

On the winning side
For now, Labar and Tran can stay confident. On Tuesday morning, they have won their qualification match for Thailand Open against Lu Ching Yao and Lee Chia Hsin from Chinese Taipei in straight games, 21-13 21-18.

- We are very happy about our game. It has been a tough period, so I am glad that we ended up winning this one, Labar stated.

- We managed to stay consistent and positive in the second game even after a less promising start. It is good to be back on the winning side again, Labar added.

Tough first round
In the first round of Thailand Open the French will play against the 2018 All England winners, Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino, from Japan.

- We have a really tough one against the Japanese. We do not know our game plan yet. We will watch some videos later and try to find the best option against those two. But we will definitely go on court without pressure, Ronan Labar said.

The Japanese, who are ranked number three in the World, are for sure the favorites against Labar and Tran, who are ranked 57th. It is the first ever meeting on court between the two pairs.
