In Calgary, Canada, this week, where is getting underway the 2019 YONEX Canada Open, Europe has reached the Semi-Finals.

In this BWF tournament, Europe fought fiercely and managed to have representatives in three of the five categories.

Mixed Doubles: European affair

The World’s Number 26 French pair, Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue faced in the Quarterfinals Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje from Denmark, winning in two straight games with a score of 21-13, 21-15.

Despite their young age -20 and 19 years old respectively-, the Frenchmen are an impressive pair. They seem to be in excellent physical condition, playing with a very mature style that has led them to good results. As they had recently in Minsk, Belarus at the end of June where they won the bronze medal.

After having secured a spot in the podium, in the Semi-Finals Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue are going to come up against Ko Sung Hyun and Eom Hye Won from Korea.

Works fantastic the new pair for Denmark

The newly formed pair Mathias Boe and Mads Conrad-Petersen from Denmark seems to be the ideal combination and have achieved good results so far.

After winning the Spanish International 2019, where they showed great chemistry between them, the Danes look ready to achieve even better results in Canada.

Mathias Boe and Mads Conrad-Petersen faced in their second tournament the second seeds Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin from Chinese Taipei, winning by 21-15, 21-19.

Now, in the Semi-Finals the Danes will compete against the number three seeds Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han from Chinese Taipei.

Deprez stakes out a win

Fabienne Deprez from Germany seems to be in excellent form now in Canada and is moving comfortably towards the Semi-Finals.

In the Quarterfinals, the German faced the number eight seed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk from Thailand, a very strong opponent who reached in the Quarterfinals in Rio back in 2016.

Deprez easily beat her competitor with a score of 21-16, 21-18.

-I am quite happy with my performance today and looking forward to a tough match tomorrow. Thank you for the support, she stated on Instagram.

Later today, the German will meet against the number five seed An Se Young from Korea, in a very significant battle.
