Chris and Gabrielle Adcock have progressed to the quarterfinals of the European Games as the top of Group A.

The Adcocks won their final match against Jakub Bitman and Alzbeta Basova, from the Czech Republic.

The top seeds have won all of their matches this week and today was no different for the pair from Great Britain.

Confident going forward

The Adcocks who could have the chance to win their third European Championship style tournament in a row cannot wait to get going.

- We are looking forward to getting into the knockout stage now. Obviously, we don’t know who we are going to play yet, but looking forward to getting to the business end, Chris Adcock said.

The badminton player since the age of 4 also spoke about what gets them to perform so well on court.

- I don’t think there is that much more pressure from the outside than what we put on ourselves, because we do pressure ourselves to perform and play well.

- It will be about how me and Chris perform more than anything, but yeah we need to stay focused and switched on for the next match, Gabrielle Adcock added.

The pair will now face the current holders of the European Games, Niclas Nøhr and Sara Thygesen in the quarterfinals.
