Ahead of the European Games, Team GB’s (Great Britain) Marcus Ellis believes that he has a good chance to go far in Minsk.

Ellis will travel to Belarus and play in both Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles with Lauren Smith and Chris Langridge.

A chance to win medals

Ellis who reached the final of the Azerbaijan International in Baku, has faith that he and his doubles partner Langridge can beat the pairs in front of them at the multi-sport event.

- It is a fantastic opportunity for us, Marcus Ellis stated.

- The Men’s Doubles are completely wide open in my opinion, we know that we can win it. We have beaten all of the pairs that are at the Games.

- It is just about playing at our best, when we are in these events, we have had some time after the Azerbaijan International to prepare for it and hopefully, we can perform when we get there.

The Huddersfield-born 29-year old knows where his level will need to be if he is going to impress in both categories.

- It will be quite a heavy schedule for me because I am going in Mixed as well.

- So, if I want to play in the final for both, then I will be playing, at least twelve matches so it is something that I need to be both physically and mentally ready to do.

As special feeling

Ellis revealed how he feels to represent Great Britain and spoke about it having that special touch on his performances on court.

- For me, it is my favourite time to compete. I am not sure what it is like for other countries and nations but for Team GB, it is a real honour to represent them and they make you feel very special, Ellis revealed

- I have been to the Olympics and putting on that GB jersey makes me want to do well for the country and play well for the team.

- That is why in the past, this kind of event has dragged the best out of me and Chris especially. So hopefully we go there, enjoy it and do the same again, he added.
