The EPC General Assembly has concluded

On Saturday 4 May in Netanya, Israel, The European Paralympic Committee (EPC), held their General Assembly, where important decisions were made for European para-sports.

João Matos, the newly appointed BWF Vice President for Europe and Chair of the para-badminton Commission at Badminton Europe was in attendance and has revealed that the meeting went very much to plan.

Focus on gender equity

One of the main actions of the meeting was gender equity. Matos, speaking to Badminton Europe believes that there is more to come from gender equity at the EPC following some changes made in the input.

- The main subjects which were addressed in the conference were, “Tackling the Future” and a presentation by Andrew Parsons (International Paralympic Committee President), followed by a number of workshops, João Matos told Badminton Europe.

- On the General Assembly, alongside with the usual accounts and annual report approval, a lot of input was done on changes to the statues to improve the gender equity on the EPC Executive board, he added.

What else was covered?

During the conference in Israel, there was a review of the budgets for the upcoming years as well as the approval of the new members to the committee.

Furthermore, the meeting on Saturday included taking a look into the General Report of the Executive Board and reviewing motions that had been submitted by the Executive Board.


BEC and EPC

BEC is officially a member of the European Paralympic Committee (EPC) from 17th June 2017. BEC was accepted unanimously by the delegates at the 12th European Paralympic Committee General Assembly in Katowice, Poland.
