Injuries at this time of year have not been kind to Gabrielle Adcock of England, of recent times.

Last year the European Champion had problems with her ankle and this year it is a toe joint irritating the Britain player.

The injury which was sustained during training in Copenhagen ruled Gabrielle Adcock out for the European Mixed Team Championships, with hope that it would be better for the YONEX All England, soon after.

The Mixed Doubles pair reached the quarter finals of the All England in Birmingham but lost to the winners of the tournament Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong.

Passion over injury

Gabrielle Adcock speaking to Badminton Europe after the match revealed the extent of the injury and what pain it causes her.

"I have got an irritated toe join in the capsule, so obviously, the more I use it, the more irritated it gets, and it has definitely been the case this week,” Gabrielle Adcock said.

"I managed to get through a match and then it was extremely sore but then we managed to get it okay in the morning.

"But as soon as I go on court it gets irritated again so as the tournament as gone on, it has been harder to get it right for the next day,” she continued.

Strong Gabby!

Chris Adcock speaking after the match shared how proud he was that Gabrielle Adcock showed her braveness to get through the match.

"I don’t think if it had been any other tournament, that we would have been out there today, but credit to Gabby, she literally put her body on the line," Chris Adcock said.

"It is just moving forward now, I really enjoy playing on court, so it was a difficult decision whether to not play so it didn’t get irritated, so mixed emotions,” Gabrielle Adcock added.
