First semi finalists decided

At the end of the first session at the YONEX All England quarter finals, there is representation in the semi-finals from Chinese Taipei, China, Malaysia, Japan and Indonesia.

The first matches on court included the world’s best player for the Women’s Singles in Tai Tzu Ying against Saina Nehwal from India, which Tzu Ying won in a narrow two game match.

Also into the semi finals of the tournament for the Women’s Singles is Akane Yamuguchi who beat He Bingjiao from China in a three game thriller.

Indonesia in control

In the Men’s Doubles, both pairs from Indonesia, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiwan and Fjar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto both progressed to the semi finals with comfortable wins.

Ahsan/Setiwan managed to get past the last Men’s Doubles from Europe in Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel with the final result 21-12 and 21-13 with the second game being won with a long run of points.

The other Indonesian pair Alfian/Ardianto, were the winners of a strange match last on court one.

After a competitive first game ending 22-20 to the Indonesian pair after Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong were ahead shortly before the quick comeback for Alfian/Ardianto to win.

Who to look out for this evening?

One of the matches of the evening is set to be the Men’s Doubles as Han Chengai/Zhou Haodong will play Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda.

For the continent, all eyes will be on Chris and Gabrielle Adcock who are playing the World Number One pair in Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong.

As well as the Adcocks, there is a challenge on for the Bulgarian Stoeva Sisters, Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva, who are playing the Japanese number one seeds, Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota.
