A medal is a target in Minsk

Thygesen, who plays in two categories, believes that she will focus on the European Games more than the previous time that she competed in the multi-sport event.

Thygesen went to Baku in Azerbaijan for the first edition of the European Games in Mixed Doubles and has a good first impression.

- I think the first time it was held it was not that highly prioritised, it was new. I went there in Mixed Doubles and I thought it was awesome and quite fun to have these 'Mini-Olympic Games' kind of thing, she said.

- You can learn from the set-up of it and this year, there are some more world-ranking points, so of course, it is a big goal, and we want to go there and we want to get a medal, she added.

- There is a bit more pressure. When we go to European tournaments, we are normally seeded. So, we have to maybe get a medal or be one of the best pairs, but that is a lot of pressure sometimes. Maiken Fruergaard said.

Mixed Doubles category going strong

Thygesen who plays Mixed Doubles with Niclas Nøhr, revealed that she has always enjoyed playing in that category and also believes the category, in general, is on the rise.

- The Mixed Doubles has always had a big place in my heart since I was young, it was definitely mixed doubles that I was the best at, she said.

- I think I am also good in doubles now, but it took me some time to get better in Ladies Doubles but Mixed Doubles is more natural for me. It is more natural for me to stand on the net, she added.

- It is an awesome game, so much speed and also this Mixed Doubles category has developed really fast, Thgesen continued.

- We have seen now, the first and second seed Chinese pair, they really hit the high level and there are so many things that have changed, I like it, she said.
