This week, Badminton Europe has released another BEC Podcast episode, which is available to view on Facebook and YouTube, and also available to listen to on SoundCloud, Spotify, iTunes and Deezer.

This episode features a Danish Men’s Singles player in Rasmus Gemke who joined Badminton Europe in the Podcast studio at the Denmark Open.

Gemke spoke about the strong calibre of players in the Men’s Singles for Denmark at the moment and the benefits of that.

All looking good

Rasmus Gemke is one of a strong list of Danish Men’s Singles players with Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen the main stars.

Gemke played in his first team match for his country at the European Mixed Team Championships in a match against Spain last week in Copenhagen.

- I think it is pretty good right now in the Men’s Singles, I think we have about eight players at the moment in the national squad, so it is good sparring for everybody, Rasmus Gemke said.

- We are pushing each other every day, yes we want to win but we also want to help each other, that is the main key to the success, he added.

Chance to impress

Gemke has recently moved up to the World Tour stage and is now playing against the very best players in the sport.

The 22-year old has set himself a target of winning a Super 500 tournament before he even tries for the Olympic Games involvement.

- It is nice to play in the World Tour, I have watched the super series tournaments since I was younger and it is still the same players now as I watched when I was a little guy, he said.

- Of course, it is fun to be there and face some of the best players in the world now.

- Looking forward, I want to win a Super 500 or a Super 1000 tournament before I start thinking about playing in an Olympic Games, Gemke continued.

Something to look out for:

Rasmus Gemke speaks about who the best players in the world are from his point of view as well as his goals for the future.
