The first BWF Super tournament of the year in Europe is on the program! Location: The sunny Barcelona, Spain. After the Barcelona Spain Masters, the HSBC BWF Super European tour will continue at the German Open, All England, Swiss Open and Orleans Masters.

The Stoeva sisters (Bulgaria) finally had their wishes granted to compete in the World Tour Finals. Needless to say they would like to repeat this experience at the end of the year, which requires good results.

According to the seeding, they should win the tournament and get an extra push in the HSBC BWF World tour race. However, in experience this turns out easier said than done. Nevertheless the Stoeva sisters are always in for a challenge.

- We do feel a little pressure, but we hope we are ready and prepared to take this challenge!

Indonesian roulette

Stefani and Gabriela are facing Della Destiara Haris and Tania Oktaviana Kusamah from Indonesia in the first round.

Indonesia is still experimenting with new pairs in different events before the Olympic qualification starts. This is among other reasons due to Lilyana Natsir and Debby Susanto retiring from the badminton sport.

Haris will also play the first three European Super tournaments with the young Kusamah. That promises an interesting start for the Stoeva sisters, but that will not make them anxious!

- We will fight till the end and hope to make good results in this tournament!

Danish squad in Spain

The Danish team had no time to rest after their gold triumph as they are almost all represented in Barcelona. Only Rasmus Gemke has withdrawn for the tournament. However, still enough Danish delight in men’s singles, as Viktor Axelsen, Anders Antonsen, Jan O Jorgensen and Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus will be seen on court.

In men’s doubles Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe are back after a long injury. However, European champions Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen are the favourites to claim the victory.

A Danish women’s singles final between Mia Blichfeldt and Line Kjaersfeldt is one of the possible outcomes as they are second and fourth seeded. On top of that, Mathias Christiansen and Christinna Pedersen have a good chance to win their first tournament together!
