Victories for Denmark and France

At the second day of the group stage, Denmark was able to win against the Netherlands on home soil, France beat Spain with 4-1. 


On Thursday, the first matches of Group 1 on Day 2 of the European Mixed Team Championships got underway at 6.00 PM (CET). For Denmark, Viktor Axelsen was representing his home country as the first player in front of his home crowd.  


After 27 minutes, he won the match between Jonathan Kweekel from the Netherlands. 


- It is always nice to sort of lead the team in the first match. I am very happy with my performance to day, Axelsen said after the match.

On the other court, Pablo Abian was the only Spaniard, who was able to win his match. He won against his strong French opponent, Toma Junior Popov after three tough games. In all other categories, the French players were dominating and able to win the matches.

Tomorrow evening, Denmark is facing Spain for the last matches of Group 1, France is facing the Netherlands.
