With now just five days to go before the European Mixed Team Championships, we have analysed the players to watch in Copenhagen.
The qualification stages in December seem a long time ago now, but the seven teams qualified are now preparing to join Denmark at the finals in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Who might step up?
A lot of people believe that the big stars will run the show in Copenhagen, but can we see some players stepping up for their country and beating the odds next week? The answer is yes, we can.
Nhat Nguyen
The Irish sensation has recently taken the step up to senior level from junior and has come into 2019, after reaching the semi-final of the YONEX Italian International 2018.
As well as this, the Singles player also played a large part in securing Ireland a place at the finals of the EMTC in Copenhagen.
Nguyen could be facing tough challenges, though, in the group stage, as he is set to face the likes of Rajiv Ouseph and the German National Champion, Max Weißkirchen. Time will soon tell if the Irish underdog
can ruffle feathers.
Yvonne Li
Another name who could spark at the EMTC is the German youngster, Yvonne Li, who is coming into the tournament in a rich vein of form after reaching the Round of 16 in Thailand.
Li also won the Czech Open in 2018 and reached the finals of the YONEX Italian International in December.
Looking at the fixtures, it could be more of a possibility to see Li take some scalps, as she could play Evgeniya Kosetskaya and Chloe Birch who are both in the top 50 in the World Rankings.
Alina Davletova
A lot of people overlook Russia but in fact, they have the
tools to turn the wheels within the squad, one of those is 
Alina Davletova.
The 20-year-old is currently within the top 40 in both Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, as well as tenth in the World Tour rankings for the Women’s Doubles with her partner, Ekaterina Bolotova.
The young star has shown that she is a tough nut to crack
in both categories and it will be a tough match for
her opponents in the group stage, as she looks to win
points for her team.
Ben Lane
The English versatile doubles player is coming into this 
Championships off the back of a double National
Championships win in Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Only time will tell if the Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist can pave his way to success at the Championships in the Danish capital.
Lane plays alongside Sean Vendy in the level doubles and impressed during the qualification when
he needed to as well as playing Mixed Doubles
with Jessica Pugh.
Delphine Delrue/Thom Gicquel
The French duo certainly could be a pair who can surprise next week, both being successful in the level doubles.
After proving themselves against those of a similar level to them in the Mixed Doubles the pair now have the chance to test themselves against the big guns.
The likes of Mathias Christiansen/Christinna Pedersen, as well as Robin Tabeling/Selena Piek will be waiting for the French pair.
Clara Azurmendi
The Spaniard will be the player responsible for filling the shoes of one of the greatest badminton players to grace the courts, Carolina Marin.
The former World Champion who suffered a serious knee injury will play no part in Copenhagen, but does this pave the way for Azurmendi to give it her best shot?
The twenty-year-old still has a lot to learn, currently ranked
117th in the world, but that could mean nothing if
she can step up, which now the Bronze medallist in
the Baku European Games has the chance to do.
