One step before the Finals in Jakarta!

The quarterfinals of the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2019 ended today and many top players have gotten through to the Semi-Finals.

With four European participations getting through the quarterfinals, the action continues in Jakarta. All players had excellent performances today and are moving forward in the hope of winning a title.

Men’ s Singles:  Significant wins

Viktor Axelsen, faced in the quarterfinals the number four seed Chen Long from China and after a very interesting game, won by 21-18, 21-14. The Danish player gave the Indonesian crowd the opportunity to enjoy a high quality game and a head to head meeting. 

After their last meeting a week ago in Malaysia, where the Chinese won, it was time for the Dane to get his revenge. Playing with a lot of determination and without making mistakes, Axelsen won the Olympic Champion Chen Long.     

Tomorrow, Axelsen will face the World’s number one Kento Momota from Japan.

The same goes for Anders Antonsen who made avery important win against Lee Zii Jia from Malaysia. The game ended with 21-13 in both sets in his favor.

Antonsen seems to be in sparking form and today in Jakarta had an excellent performance. Playing in a very mature and stable way, beat his opponent easily and showed his skills.  

In the Semi-Finals, Antonsen will play against the host Jonatan Christie. 

Now against the “minions” 

In the category of the Men’s Doubles, the Danish Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen seems to be the best pair in Europe. 

Today in Jakarta, they beat the number three seeds Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda from Japan by 21-18 in the deciding game.

After losing the first set with 9-21, in the second set they promptly found the right tempo and took it with 21-17. 

In the third set, although they were leading, their Japanese opponents managed to gain some vital points but the match eventually ended in the Dane’s favor.

In the Semi-Finals, Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen are playing against the host pair Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, who are seeded as number one. 

Emphatic win for Marin

In the Women’s Singles, the Spanish Carolina Marin easily beat Pusarla V. Sindhu from India by 21-11, 21-12.

Marin, confirmed for one more time her good form, by beating a very strong opponent. Playing with confidence and lots of energy, she managed to get the better of the Indian player.

Now, Marin is facing Chen Yufei from China, seeded as number three.
