The German Men’s Doubles pair, Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Emil Seidel, are through to the next round of the SaarLorLux Open in Germany after beating Luxembourg pair Maxime Szturma/Mike Vallenthini over straight games in comfortable style.

Also winning this afternoon in the Men’s Doubles event was Jones Ralfy Jansen/Josche Zurwonne who won over three games against their Russian opponents, Konstantin Abramov/Alexandr Zinchenko.

For Great Britain, it has been a winning day so far, with England’s Chloe Birch taking victory in the Women’s Singles this morning.

Before Marcus Ellis/Chris Langridge from England, as well as Alexander Dunn/Adam Hall from Scottland, won in the Men’s Doubles.

Winning the tournament is the aim

A happy German Men’s Doubles pair spoke to Badminton Europe after their match against Maxime Szturma/Mike Vallenthini. Seidel/Lamsfuss spoke about what they wish to achieve this week, as well as the advantages of playing at home.

– It was a solid performance and a good first round for us. The next round will be tough, and I hope we can perform like this, Mark Lamsfuss said.

– It is very nice, if you can sleep in your own bed and play a tournament, it is awesome. We have it once a year and I am looking forward to playing a few more matches here, Marvin Emil Seidel commented.

- We changed the shuttle, so we could control the shuttles easily, but they were too fast. Hopefully tomorrow, we will play with slower shuttles which is something I like to do, Lamsfuss added.

- It would be the best to win the tournament, that is definitely our goal. I think we can do it, but we have a tough draw. We have to look at every match and perform well, so we can achieve that, Seidel said.

More quality badminton to be played!

Following the Men’s Doubles, later on today, we will see the Women’s Doubles take place before the Men’s Singles ends the play for day two of the tournament.

With a number of Europeans set to play and seek a place in the next round, there is also the number one seed, Lin Dan, who will be looking to put things right after a bleak French Open.

One result that is already concluded in the Men’s Singles, is that Thomas Rouxel is through after a walkover against his Swiss opponent Christian Kirchmayr.
