The morning session at the German SaarLorLux Open is well underway with the Women’s Singles kicking off things today.
How has it gone so far?
The first European win of the day came in an all European affair, with Julie Dawall Jakobsen taking a match against Natalia Perminova from Russia in straight games.
The next came in the way of Martina Repiska who beat her Swiss opponent, Ayla Huser, also in straight games despite a close second game.
There has also been some defeats for Europe today: One, Fabienne Deprez losing out to Yukino Nakai from Japan in straight games, while Luise Heim exited the tournament against her Danish opponent, Irina Amalie Andersen, in quite a comfortable win for the Dane.

Luise Heim, speaking to Badminton Europe after her match against Irina Amalie Andersen, believes that her performance could have been so much better but admits there is no excuse.
Heim lost out in straight games against the Dane, who progresses to the next round of the SaarLorLux Open.
- Her performance was there, she did not make many mistakes, it was my performance that was not good. I did not feel good on court and I did not manage to come into the game, Luise Heim told Badminton Europe.
- I was ill in the last few days, but that is no excuse because today I felt ok. But I did not keep the pace and rhythm of the match, she is very good.
- I live one hour away from here and I think, it would have been nice to have won here on home soil, but the next tournament will be my next chance, she added.
