Fabian Roth had to deal with a lot of injuries in his badminton career. The German player spoke with Badminton Europe about his current rehab, his comeback plans and his goals.

The YONEX US Open in June and the White Nights in July are the only two tournaments that Fabian Roth was able to participate in this year.

The Men’s Singles player, that has joined the German badminton national team in 2013, currently recovers from a knee surgery.

Investing a lot of time and energy

At the moment, Roth is working on his comeback on court, and he is investing a lot of time and energy in rehab:

- I feel the progress from day to day and I take the time that I need. So, I cannot tell when I will be back on court, but I know that I will.

- I have to admit that it takes a lot of energy. But I can motivate myself every day to continue with my rehab. The people around me help me a lot to do so.

First comeback, then the Olympics

Regarding his future plans and goals, Roth is optimistic to be back on court:

- My biggest goal is to play badminton for a long time without any problems. If I will do so, I am optimistic to have further goals I can think of.

- Of course, the Olympic Games are a topic for me, but I am not thinking about it right now, as my biggest wish is to play badminton again. I am doing everything to come back on court.
