A one year collaboration that started at the Dutch Open 2017. After a year Marcus Ellis & Lauren Smith gained the needed experience, but their mentality remained the same.
- If we play our best game, we can beat any pair. Ellis stated to Badminton Europe.
Ellis and Smith already knew last year and it resulted with success. This year it was expected that they would be the favorites and they made that expectation more than true.
- It is always hard to repeat an achievement, because it gives a lot of pressure to keep our streak.
- Luckily we had a good level and kept good control in all of our comes, Smith added.

- We know we are hard to beat and I think we now show that of to our opponents as well. At some point I think our opponents lose belief to win Ellis commented after their match.
- I think this was also the case with this French pair, even though they kept on fighting, Smith added
