After some promising performances during the team event Team Switzerland proved that their juniors ae certainly on the rise with 5 wins from 7 on day two of the individual event with talent evident across all disciplines.

Milena Schnider came away with a pair of wins both in women’s singles and women’s doubles alongside Indira Dickhaeuser with Yann Orteu and Nicolas Mueller claiming relatively easy wins in their respective men’s singles.

Even in defeat Mueller and Dickhaeuser showed great potentially against one of the fancied French pairs. The Swiss  went down narrowly to Briot and Bauer in three sets with both French athletes playing a part in the French run to team gold yesterday.

- We have had a good day today said head coach Michael Fuchs. The players have shown great discipline and determination and good results don’t just happen overnight. The big thing now is to keep working hard to close the gap to the stronger nations.

In the final Swiss match of the day men’s doubles pair Yann Orteu and Minh Quang Pham racked up their second win each on day two. An expected win over Icelandic pair Hognason and Sverrisson was always on the cards but it was the manner of the victory that benchmarks the young Swiss team as a team on the rise.

- To reach a quarter final here would be a good result for us as long as we play to our abilities doing so.
