The European Senior Championships is the biggest event for Badminton Europe in terms of number of entries. And once again, the major event breaks the record of entries.

To be hosted in Guadalajara, Spain, the Spanish Badminton Federation (Badminton España) will welcome a total of 1.233 players from 24-30 September.

41 events divided into nine age groups make out the players that originate from more than half of the European Member Associations; 32 out of 52 to be exact.

The age groups start from +35, growing by five years going up to +70. For the last ESC event in 2016, the total of entries was 1.014 which is exceeded this year with 1.710.

The ESC continues to set the bar and be the biggest major events by Badminton Europe in figures, and we are excited to get started by the end of September.

Experience with big events
Guadalajara was recognized by the European Union as ‘European City of Sport 2018’ and at the venue Pabellón Multiusos de Guadalajara 5,800 spectators can be seated.

The Spanish federations recently hosted the individual European Championships in Huelva this April, and Badminton Europe is excited to return to Spain with organizers that are used to handling major events.

The city of Guadalajara has previously hosted other big sports events such as the 2013 World Men’s Handball Championships and the 2016 World Cup Rhythmic Gymnastics.
