YONEX-SUNRISE Vietnam Open 2018 is of now without European entries on day 3 as Vladimir Malkov from Russia and the mixed doubles of Callum Hemming Fee Teng Liew from England lost their matches today.

Malkov took on Hsueh Hsuan Yi from Chinese Taipei, after a win against Minoru Koga the day before. The Russian was seeded fourth but was not able to recover sufficiently for the round 3 match earlier on Thursday.

- It was a difficult match today because I wasn’t recovered fully after yesterday, Malkov, 32, told Badminton Europe.

- Looks like I was feeling accumulated tiredness after a long period with tournaments. So, I couldn’t keep my focus through the whole match today even though I tried to come back in the match.

The men’s singles player hopes to be recovered for his next tournament which will the BWF Super 300 Spanish Open, in Barcelona.

European results
Callum and Liew won their first-round match in three games but lost earlier on Thursday to Urai and Miyaura from Japan; 21-12, 22-20.

Another Russian men’s singles Sergey Sirant was also through to round 2 but that was all it turned out to. The same was apparent for third seeded Pablo Abian from Spain after he was defeated by Rhustavito.

The next BWF tournament will be Spanish Open on August 28th, while the European Circuit’s next stop is Bulgarian Open next week from August 13th.
